The deal of the day on Amazon last week was a box of scratch art. My kids LOVE scratch art and knew I had to find a way to incorporate it into my classroom. I’m in the middle of a fun unit on ancient civilizations of world history. We’ve already done cuneiform and hieroglyphics in play-doh and played Shark Tank for ancient inventions. So I decided to do something fun for Ancient China too! Students LOVE oracle bones. But… I didn’t have turtle shells or cow bones for students to write on (no shocker there!) Instead I used the scratch art as Oracle Bones! Students went crazy. They wrote their own sentences in Chinese on the “Oracle Bones” and then shared them with their tables.
Have you tried using scratch art in the classroom? Here are some of the photos with how great they turned out!
